Alabama Success Story

Internship Project: APC Website Redesign

Situation

The Alabama Productivity Center’s website, originally created by past MIS interns, was no longer effectively serving the center’s needs. The single-page design forced users to scroll extensively to locate information, and the lack of clear call-to-action buttons limited engagement. Key objectives such as internship applications, class registrations, and inquiries about professional services were not being met. APC recognized the need for a modern, multi-page website that would highlight both Professional Services and Internship opportunities while making information more accessible and actionable.

Solution

To bring this vision to life, APC paired its two MIS interns, Jared Waller and Noah Yoshida, with its marketing intern, Shaelin Jones. This collaboration combined technical development expertise with creative design and user-experience insight. Shaelin designed sitemaps and page layouts, ensuring the new site was user-friendly and visually appealing. Jared and Noah then translated these designs into code using C#, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, SQL, and ASP.NET.

The redesigned website expanded into seven distinct pages: Home, About Us, Client Services, Internships, Success Stories, Locations, and News. With a clean navigation bar, users could now quickly access the information they needed without endless scrolling. The site also incorporated vibrant visuals, intuitive layouts, and clear call-to-action buttons to encourage engagement. New content included an Advisory Board directory and a Success Stories page, both designed to showcase APC’s leadership, partnerships, and impact.
